4 out of 5 stars Good old standby   December 30, 2008

I've used this powder in the Stay Buff shade for about 12 years now. It does a good job of controlling shine, although I do have to reapply it every couple of hours, especially on my nose and forehead. This product has a tendency to look cakey if applied with the makeup sponge it comes with, so I prefer to sweep it on using a brush, which helps a lot. I've tried a lot of other pressed powder products, and so far this is the one that works best with my skin. I will continue to use it unless I finally find something a little better

4 out of 5 stars Another Great Product from Clinique   August 5, 2008
I am a big fan of Clinique - I think they have high quality cosmetics and don't charge insane prices like a lot of other department store brands. This powder is another staple for me; it's always in my purse. I use Stay Golden, it goes on smooth, is a perfect shade for my skin, and never cakes. (I usually use Clinique Loose Powder when I first put my make-up on, and then use the pressed powder throughout the day). One thing I do suggest with any powder is to keep the little plastic film that goes between the powder and the sponge applicator. Without the film, the oil from your face gets on the powder.

I would have given this powder 5 stars except for a minor flaw: 1) I have to reapply it quite often (but I think that's true with most powders)

3 out of 5 stars Stay-Matte-for-an-hour   June 22, 2008
It didn't really do much for my oily skin. The casing just looks nice and that's it. I had to use blotting sheets to control the shine. I wouldn't buy it again since it didn't work as well and was more expensive than the other shine free powder brands like Maybelline.

2 out of 5 stars Not what I expected   January 27, 2008
I was pretty excited to try this product I must say because I have pretty oily skin and I had hopes this would make it look not so oily. When i tried it the first thing I noticed was that it did get rid of the shine but the shade was much too dark. I do have really fair skin and I thought the "invisible matte" shade would be.. well relatively invisible. But it is quite dark and very orange tinted. It was kind of spendy. I usually use Bare Escentuals foundation and I think i'm going to stick with it. It did mattify the shine but the Mineral Veil from Bare Escentuals works just as good without the orange tint. I do want to try the Clinique Perfectly Real foundation so I might give Clinique another try.

4 out of 5 stars Fine, don't put it in your purse!   January 3, 2008
I bought this at Macy's after being very happy with their skin care line. It's fine as far as pressed powders go I suppose, but it broke the very first time I put it in my purse! So I fixed it with rubbing alcohol, set it down on the table and it fell from a low coffee table, to the shag carpet on the floor (very soft) and broke AGAIN! So I fixed it with rubbing alcohol again, and I touched it with the powder puff thing, and it broke, yet again! I would also say it's fine as far as powders go, but I really can't tell the difference between this and cover girl, which is about $15 less. It's a little less cakey and ghostly looking than drugstore brands, but they all do the same thing. And my cover girl has been riding around in my purse for AGES and has never broken. Buy this if you need a good powder that won't leave your bathroom, buy something else if you want a compact for quick touch ups.
